Day 25 - Our animal friends

Every morning at 5:30 AM our neighbourhood rooster crows.   This initially took some getting used to since Tema is considered to be a city in Ghana and is located only 30KM away from the Nation's capital.

In Canada we would not normally expect farm animals to be wandering the streets in an urban area but here, in Ghana, in the home right beside our hotel resides my rooster friend.  This is also home to several goats and chickens.   They quite commonly are crossing the roadways, without any apparent human supervision and I have yet to see any examples of these animals meeting an ill fate as they challenge the cabs and other traffic on this busy road.

Our other Ghanaian pal is the hotel's resident lizard who we have fondly nicknamed Watson.  We quite commonly see Watson sunning himself by the hotel pool.

Now you don't see that every day in Canada!
